Valli Bannockburn Vineyard Pinot Noir

Valli Bannockburn Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

"This vintage is exceptionally fragrant with beautiful wild flowers, thyme and lilac woven through bright red fruit, cinnamon and cedar. A palate with incredible energy; red cherry and raspberry are the gateway to a round and creamy mid palate with long, silky tannins and vibrant acidity that gives the wine length and memory. This wine is drinking beautifully at release and will continue to do so for at least a decade."

"A beautiful fragrance of violets and wild thyme mingled with blackberry, dark cherry and a savoury scent of leather. The concentrated core of dark red fruit is lifted by ripe acidity and underscored by long and beautifully woven tannins. A harmonious Pinot Noir that is intriguing now but will also age gracefully."

”Dark violet, cherry and dark plum fruit, with spice notes of vanilla and nutmeg. There is immediate impact on the palate. Concentrated ripe fruit derived texture surrounds and balances a bright acid core, with fine tannins adding structure and helping to carry the flavours. This is a Pinot Noir that will live a very long time.”

“Valli’s Bannockburn vineyard is only 20km from Gibbston in the Cromwell basin, but there is a significant difference in climate which is responsible for creating markedly different wines. The Bannockburn wines reflect it’s warmer climate by displaying dark, ripe cherry fruits, and by being denser and more powerful with a “sweeter” mouth feel.”

Perfumed, ripe plum fruit, mocha and toffee notes.

2005

Colour: Violet with youthful dark purple tinge.

Nose: Ripe black berry/perfumed wild raspberry fruit with dark chocolate and mocha woven through it.

Mouth: Intensely concentrated and sweet textured with great length of dark berry flavours on the palate. Well integrated acidity provides the structure for this wine, keeping it bright and vibrant while adding to the persistence of flavours. Because of its fine tannin structure, this relatively youthful Pinot Noir is very drinkable at an early age.

Wine Spectator Reviews

91 Points - Valli Bannockburn Vineyard Pinot Noir 2005

Ripe and intense, with delicious blackberry, black plum and spice flavors. Plenty of cedary oak, fresh herb notes and minerality linger, with a tangy solid structure. Drink now through 2011.

2004

Colour: Deep Violet

Nose: Bright black cherry/plum fruit with dark chocolate and spice notes in the background.

Mouth: Beautiful rich concentrated silky textured fruit on the palate. Supported and balanced by the subtle acidity which gives the wine great length of flavour and persistence. Because of the nature of the vintage, the 2004 Bannockburn, has the most powerful tannin structure, and of all three wines, would offer the greatest reward for long term cellaring.

2003

Our Bannockburn Pinot Noir has cherry/red plum fruit and savoury spice notes on the nose. It has the region's characteristic supple sensuous mouth feel with powerful fruit sweetness. The great persistence of flavours and ripe tannins framing this wine should give it an aging potential of at least 10 years.

2002

"A powerful, tannic wine with bold cherryish nutty flavours. "

Michael Cooper - Star Times
