Valli Bendigo Vineyard Pinot Noir

Valli Bendigo Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

"Brilliant purple/garnet hue with aromas of crushed raspberry, boysenberry, mulberry and vanilla. Richly concentrated on the palate with creamy, fine tannins that build in the mouth. Lifted fresh berry flavours and juicy acidity give the wine vibrance that marries beautifully with its prominent frame. A powerful pinot noir that exudes modern charm but at its core remains a classic. Fresh and inviting in its youth, the underlying structure will also reward cellaring"

"Grant was involved in the largest-ever plantings in Otago’s warmest sub-region, Bendigo. Of the 5 different sites, he quickly identified ‘Chinaman’s Terrace’ as his favourite. It’s higher elevation means slightly cooler temperatures and better airflow, which slows down ripening and reduces the risk of rot. The wines are “big friendly beasts”: they are dark, rich, lush wines capturing the rock-reflected heat of this special site."

"The Bendigo Pinot Noir is the newest addition to the Valli stable of single Vineyard Pinot Noirs. Years ago, Grant was involved in the largest-to-date plantings at Bendigo, across 5 different sites. During this time, he identified "Chinaman's Terrace" as his favourite. When the opportunity to make wine from the Zebra Vineyard on Chinaman's Terrace presented itself there was only one answer: YES. The wines from this very warm part of Otago have been described as "big friendly beasts". They are dark, rich, lush wines capturing the rock reflected heat and ripeness of this special site."
